aerie
Appeared first as a hidden country, the island Aerie was an ancient civilized country,
until it physically broke off from the range of its mother empire. No one exactly knew how the island moved--actually, the island never actually moved an inch. The space between the island and the rest of the world moved, the time-space, just area between them was distorted.
Being mysterious enough, Aerie tends to attract apocryphals who became liars, secrets that became stories, and magic that became fairytales.
This is how the "Seven Wonders of Aerie" began. They are little and big mysteries, trapped in Aerie; stories now told to kids by adults to teach the harshness of life.
the seven wonders
Lewarver Library - Guardian of Knowledge
It all started in the Lewarver Library, the "storyteller", the "narrator", the "lighthouse" of Aerie's legends. The storyteller itself was the Lewarver Library and this is how all the fables of Aerie came to being. The narrator, who had powers that made stories come alive and it did not want to be alone; in all the fables, there is a reoccurring theme: temptation. Lewarver tricked and deceived many people and spinned them into stories...oh, it was just a legend, a legend long long time ago, as old as the Lewarver Library...
Melswood Forest - Guardian of Curiosity- Hansel & Gretel
The first story was about two curious siblings, the intelligent brother and the naive sister, who were left in the forest, betrayed by their stepmother. In the Melswood Forest, through the paths of Aerie, they left loose tracks... and stumbled upon a fairytale gingerbread house, meeting the witch. In desperation, they trusted her immediately, leading them to--some say they met a "happily ever after", but the twins stumbled into a bigger gingerbread house... to Lewarver.
Navajo Lake - Guardian of Empathy- Alice in Wonderland
There once was a girl named Alice. She was a charming and an adored girl, loved by everyone. One afternoon, while wandering about at the Melswood Forest, chasing a rabbit, she happened to find a lake. That lake was like a clear sheet of glass, like a mirror. She gazed into the the crystal sheet of water... and fell in, to a world of wonders. Nobody found Alice after that incident and many people gathered around Navajo Lake and wept. That's why, the Navajo Lake is sometimes known as the "Pool of Tears".
Syrup Farms - Guardian of Immortality
There is a small pool, hidden and uncharted in the maps of Aerie in Syrup Farms. But an old farmer had stumbled upon it. Without knowing the small spring's powers, he took a sip and rose...to stumble back, stuttering at his reflection in the pool. His old wrinkles disappeared, his hair returned color, and the age was taken away from his body. He had gotten younger by twenty years! When he got home, his wife was in disbelief. Eventually, she was convinced that the young man was her old husband. She hurried to the spring and drank, drank, drank, until her husband found her as a baby.
Lucid Cave - Guardian of Illusion - The Nine-Tailed Fox
This might a story that you've never heard of, as it originated in Asia. The kumiho (korea), the kitsune (japan), or the huli jing (china), was a monster who could change her appearance between a beautiful maiden and a nine-tailed fox. One day, a man was walking through the forest and found an injured fox. With compassion, he treated the fox's wound and went his way up to the mountain. He was tired and a snowstorm brewed, so he hid inside of Lucid Cave. There was no hope for the snowstorm to stop... and he was dying of hypothermia. Then on the night, a maiden came and helped to nurse the man. The maiden made him promise to never open his eyes through the night until the morning. Curiosity tempted him inside his mind; he went insane. And he opened his eyes... he saw the maiden was truly the fox he saw, but with nine fiery tails. The snowstorm soon subsided, but the man could never escape.
Glassy Oceanfront - Guardian of Time - Peter Pan
The ship you see in the Glassy Oceanfront, was a ship owned by a pirate. A pirate with a blackened heart only for treasure and revenge. Lured by his greed to find treasure and to kill a boy, he landed on an island. As the villain of the story, he died by the boy's hands... and his ship was lost in the ocean and time carried the ship to the shore, bringing it the way it looks today. Peter Pan's "Neverland" was the island that time-stopped, where you could be a kid forever, but if this story led to Aerie, it certainly isn't the case for now. It's just a story.
The Mansion - Guardian of Secrets
There is a book about this in the Lewarver Library, but the pages are blank. This is the story that has yet to come.
Aerie was found again and owned by a descendant of ancient Aerie. It started once again as a small private colony, (1700s) dependent on its small farming and tourism. Open immigration was accessible (2000) and boom went little Aerie.
